Diabetes Research Opportunities
DSOK is actively involved in clinical research by partnering with local TrialNet Affiliates to recruit and screen candidates for the Natural History Study of Type 1 Diabetes, also known as TrialNet.
TrialNet offers a simple blood test that can identify increased risk for type 1 diabetes up to 10 years before symptoms appear. This test looks for certain markers in the blood, called autoantibodies, which signal an increased risk for the disease.
This valuable test is available at NO CHARGE.
TrialNet offers screening to those:
- Age 45 years and younger with a parent, brother, sister or child with type 1 diabetes
- Age 20 years and younger with a niece, nephew, aunt, uncle, grandparent, half-brother, half-sister or cousin with type 1 diabetes.
To schedule this screening for yourself or a member of your family, please contact:
Sharon Domek, RN, CDE, DSOK Study Coordinator (405) 550-3467 or firstname.lastname@example.org
